National Safety Council Unveils New Scaffolding Safety Requirement
The National Safety Council, Itasca, Ill., recently released ANSI A10.8, Safety Requirements for Scaffolding, to establish safety requirements for the construction, operation, maintenance, and use of scaffolds in the construction, alteration, demolition, and maintenance of buildings and structures.
Part of a series of safety standards developed by the Accredited Standards Committee A10, this requirement doesn't cover permanently installed suspended scaffold systems or aerial platforms. Its purpose is to serve as a guide for contractors, labor, and equipment manufacturers in the construction and demolition industries. You can purchase this standard from the National Safety Council by visiting www.nsc.org or calling (800) 621-7619.
