i-Gard wants to learn about your high resistance grounding (HRG) installation!

Here’s your chance to win $5000! All you have to do is submit a case history based on your or your client’s experience (positive or negative) in applying HRG technology to an existing or new power distribution system.

EC&M and i-Gard will review all entries and select five semifinalists. These five submissions will be posted on the EC&M Website for review and voting by EC&M readers to obtain the top three finalists. The winning submission, based on final judging by i-Gard, will be awarded $5,000 in prize money from i-Gard.

Finalists and winning selection will be based on uniqueness of HRG application, extent of problems experienced prior to installation of HRG technology, and detailed analysis of resulting benefits or lack thereof.

Your submission must include the following information:

  • Name, title, and employer of submitter.
  • E-mail address, mailing address, and telephone number of submitter.
  • Case History Industry type (e.g. industrial, commercial, etc.) If requested for confidentiality reasons, you do not need to include the name of the company or facility where the HRG installation took place.
  • Case history location specifics (e.g. voltage, service size, etc.)
  • Reasons for considering HRG technology (e.g. process continuity, improved safety, ease of fault location, etc.)
  • Decision criteria (e.g. on what basis was the supplier / product / system considered)
  • Installation and operational experiences
  • Benefits received, if any.
  • Problems incurred, if any.
  • Any product / technology features that would improve HRG and its application

Your submission must adhere to the following editorial guidelines:

  • Length: 2000 words (submit as Word file with NO embedded graphics)
  • Graphics: maximum of two (tif or jpeg format, high resolution)
  • Photos: maximum of two (individual electronic files, high resolution)

Submission deadline: July 30, 2009

Conditions: By participating, entrants and winner agrees to release and hold harmless i-Gard (Sponsor), and its respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotions agencies, partners, representatives, agents, successors, employees, officers and directors, from any and all liability, for loss, harm, damage, injury, cost or expense whatsoever including without limitation, property damage, personal injury and/or death which may occur in connection with, preparation of case history, travel to case history site, or participation in HRG Case History Contest, or possession, acceptance and/or use or misuse of prize or participation in any HRG Case History Contest-related activity and for any claims based on publicity rights, defamation or invasion of privacy and merchandise delivery. Sponsor is not responsible if HRG Case History Contest cannot take place or if any prize cannot be awarded due to delays or interruptions due to acts of God, acts of war, natural disasters, weather or acts of terrorism.

Miscellaneous: All entries become the sole property of Sponsor and will NOT be returned. In the event of a dispute, submissions made by Internet will be deemed made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of entry. The "authorized account holder" is deemed the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, service provider or other online organization that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. A potential winner may be requested to provide Sponsor with proof that the potential winner is the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the winning entry.
