Florida Power & Light experienced technical issues last week when its computer system handling solar rebate applications froze. This problem came just a few days after another glitch in which someone mistakenly started the computer system too early, according to a report from the Sun Sentinel.
FPL told customers they could reapply for rebates to install solar panels on homes last Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. but the system temporarily froze.
An FPL spokeswoman told Sun Sentinel that customers who completed an application Wednesday morning were sent an automated email confirming receipt of the application. Those customers ould expect another email Thursday "either confirming their reservation or placing them on a stand-by list, should a future reservation become available," she said.
William A. Hoysradt Jr., who leads Abundant Energy in Jupiter in Palm Beach County, said the FPL site locked up and then went blank temporarily, came back, closed again and later accepted applications, the Sentinel reported.
