NETA Releases ANSI/NETA MTS-2007 Edition
Oct 25, 2007 2:48 PM
Portage, Mich.-based InterNational Electrical Testing Association (NETA) recently published ANSI/NETA MTS-2007, “Standard for Maintenance Testing Specifications for Electrical Power Distribution Equipment and Systems, 2007 Edition.” The 250-page guide covers suggested field tests and inspections to assess the suitability for continued service and reliability of electrical power distribution systems. The standard addresses topics such as applicable references, power systems studies, electromagnetic field testing, motor control, electrical safety equipment, medium- and high-voltage cables, and arc flash hazard analysis.
New to the 2007 edition is its endorsement by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), an agency which provides U.S. parties with an unbiased setting to work toward common agreements in developing American National Standards. As a result of ANSI's approval of the ANSI/NETA MTS-2007, NETA has withdrawn two independently published standards, the ANSI/NETA 7.2.1-2001, “Maintenance Testing Specifications of Dry-Type Transformers” and the ANSI/NETA 7.2.2-2001, “Maintenance Testing Specifications Liquid Filled Transformers” and has incorporated these standards in their entirety within the ANSI/NETA MTS-2007. The ANSI/NETA MTS-2007 is available as a bound manual, CD-ROM, or electronic download through NETA’s Web site or by calling (888) 300-6382.
