EC&M readers are asked to identify a NEC Code violation in a photo.

This installation violates the requirement of 406.2(C) for receptacles used with aluminum conductors, which states “Receptacles rated 20 amperes or less and designed for the direct connection of aluminum conductors shall be marked CO/ALR.” It also violates the requirement of 404.14(C) for CO/ALR snap switches, which states, “Snap switches rated 20 amperes or less directly connected to aluminum conductors shall be listed and marked CO/ALR.”
