The Burn Foundation , a Philadelphia-based nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing burns, supporting the burn care community, and enhancing the quality of life for burn survivors, was recently awarded a $50,000 grant from PECO Energy, Philadelphia. The grant will support burn prevention education programs for electrical contractors and those who work around electrical wires.
"Contact with electric wires can be deadly, so we are grateful that PECO continues to recognize the importance of making prevention programs available to people whose jobs put them at higher risk for contact," says Patsy Porter, Burn Foundation president and CEO. "We also thank the company for its steadfast support of our organization over the years. PECO has played a significant role in enabling us to advance our mission of prevention and support for burn survivors."
Financial assistance in previous years enabled the Burn Foundation to produce a safety DVD for contractors. Called “Professional Contractor Safety: Preventing Electrical Injuries,” it is available to contractors through the Burn Foundation.
