Weaker North American EBCIs Still Indicate Improving Conditions in May

NEMA’s EBCI for current conditions in North America declined in May, falling from 66.7 in April to 55.9, but continued to show signs of improvement in the business environment by remaining above the 50-point mark

NEMA’s Electroindustry Business Confidence Index (EBCI) for current conditions in North America declined in May, falling from 66.7 in April to 55.9, but continued to show signs of improvement in the business environment by remaining above the 50-point mark. Confidence in future business conditions also declined in May but remained firmly in positive territory. The EBCI for North American conditions six months hence retreated in May to 76.5 from 80.6 in April.
