Company will participate in R&D to improve distribution efficiency

Newark, N.J.-based Public Service Electric and Gas Co. (PSE&G) recently informed the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), Palo Alto, Calif., that it will support EPRI’s Green Circuit initiative, an 18-month research and development (R&D) project, by playing a leading role in the R&D aimed at improving energy efficiency in the electric distribution system.

The initiative’s initial goal is to develop technology applications to reduce the loss of electricity that typically flows through distribution lines supplying power to residential, commercial, and industrial customers. The initiative will later address energy-efficiency improvements in transmission.
