Ohio Board of Building Standards Adopts Rule Changes

They went into effect on Jan. 1, 2016.

At its meeting in early December 2015, the Ohio Board of Building Standards adopted the rule changes identified as Amendments Group 90. They went into effect on Jan. 1, 2016.

Rule Number 4101:8-34-01 amends Chapter 34 of the Residential Code of Ohio (RCO) to reference the 2014 Edition of NFPA 70 with selected amendments. Section 3401 governs the installation, testing and operation of the electrical systems of one-, two- and three-family dwellings and their accessory structures. The amendments relate to the following sections of the NEC:

  • 210.8(A)(2)
  • 210.8(A)(5)
  • 210.8(D)
  • 210.12(A)
  • 210.64

Section 3402 also adds provisions for emergency and standby power systems.
