The Kansas City Chapter of Electrical Workers Minority Caucus (EWMC), Kansas City, Mo., will be traveling January 14-18 to participate in Rebuild New Orleans, where they will be devoting time and materials to repair homes and community centers in the 9th Ward. “The members are excited about offering their craft and helping the people of New Orleans rebuild,” says Porfirio “Pete” Raya Sr., EWMC chapter president and member of IBEW Local Union No. 124. “Regrettably, a great many people have been taken advantage of following Hurricane Katrina, and we just want to do everything we can to assist.”

The EWMC Annual National Meeting is taking place in conjunction with the AFL-CIO Martin Luther King Jr. Conference being held from January 15-16 in New Orleans. Members from both groups will be participating in Rebuild New Orleans community service projects.
