Sept. 14, 2010
When complete, the Lakefield Wind Farm will consist of 137 GE 1.5MW turbines producing 205.5MW of installed capacity

Houston-based Integrated Electrical Services (IES) recently announced it has been awarded a contract from Mortenson Construction, Minneapolis, to provide electrical services at the Lakefield Wind Farm in southwestern Minnesota.

When complete, the Lakefield Wind Farm will consist of 137 GE 1.5MW turbines producing 205.5MW of installed capacity. IES will be responsible for the construction of the 200 MVA 345kV/34.5kV interconnect substation and transmission line for the project. The facility is expected to provide power for approximately 7% of utility sales for Indianapolis Power & Light.

"We are excited to work on this important regional project," says Michael Caliel, president and CEO of IES. "Renewable resources represent an important step forward for the new energy economy, and sustainable power is a natural extension to our extensive experience serving the energy and power sectors."
