Pending lawsuit may provide motive

A factory employee at St. Louis-based ABB Inc., a transformer manufacturing company, shot eight co-workers, killing three of them, before shooting himself inside the building. The shooter, Timothy Hendron, 51, of Webster Groves, Mo., was a plaintiff in a class-action federal lawsuit against ABB and its pension review committee over financial losses. A bench trial over the suit was held Tuesday and Wednesday in Kansas City, Mo., and resumed Friday morning, according to the court clerk of U.S. District Judge Nanette Laughrey. The judge had set aside four weeks to hear all the evidence. Timothy Hendron, 51, of Webster Groves, an employee at the ABB plant.
