Excellent Employment Training Opportunity for Veterans

Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC‐Chesapeake) will train16 veterans in electrical pre‐apprenticeship and solar PV basics

Veterans Green Jobs, Denver, and Bucks County Community College, Newtown, Pa., announce an exciting opportunity for U.S. military veterans interested in solar and electrical training. This exciting program, in association with the Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC‐Chesapeake), will prepare 16 veterans to take advantage of career pathways through programs focused on electrical pre‐apprenticeship and solar photovoltaic (PV) basics resulting in the opportunity to sit for the North American Board of Certified Energy Providers’ (NABCEP), Clifton Park, N.Y., entry-level exam.

Enrollments are currently being accepted for the program which will start June 14 at the newly launched Bucks County Community College's Green Jobs Academy located in the Bridge Business Center, Bristol, Pa. The program will culminate in a special closing ceremony with special guests that will recognize this historic first veteran’s cohort in September 2010.

Veterans will:

  • Receive nationally recognized certificate and pre‐apprenticeship preparation
  • Participate in an all‐veterans training group
  • Be prepared with 12 weeks of electrical, solar PV, and sustainability training including hands‐on internships
  • Receive job preparation and placement assistance
Future programs will be launched in the areas of environmental remediation and site reclamation.
