· Pittsburgh-based Emerson Process Management recently won a contract to install its PlantWeb digital architecture with the Ovation expert control system at Southwest Power Station Unit 2, a new 300MW coal-fired unit being built by Springfield, Mo.-based City Utilities. As part of the contract, Emerson will also install its AMS Suite: Intelligent Device Manager, which streamlines device configuration and commissioning for more efficient plant startup.
· The commercial division of Winter Park, Fla.-based Palmer Electric Co. recently secured two contracts with a combined total of nearly $2 million with general contractor Jack Jennings & Sons, Inc. for design-assist electrical contracting services for a seven-story assisted living facility and a five-level parking garage for Orlando Lutheran Tower, Inc., Orlando, Fla. Palmer is providing electrical wiring, lightning protection, fire alarm systems, telephone, and TV cabling for the 100,000-square-foot residential tower composed of 108-units, kitchen, dining room, and administrative and common areas.
· Chatsworth, Calif.-based Pentadyne Power Corp. recently received an order for 24 Pentadyne-made flywheels to be deployed at a major technology research and development center in Omaha, Neb. The two dozen Liebert FS systems from Emerson Network Power, which can provide more than 4.5MW of backup power, will be paralleled with six, 750kVA Liebert 610 UPS systems.
