Bear Investigates Inside of Electrician's Van

May 22, 2016
Self said he looked away for less than 10 seconds, and when he turned back around, he was face to face with a bear.

A bear climbed into an electrician's van when he had his back turned in East Tennessee. Robert Self, a field representative for All Electric of Tennessee, had just finished the electrical work on a house near Ski Mountain when he opened the doors to put his tools away.

According to a story from WBIR.com, Self said he looked away for less than 10 seconds, and when he turned back around, he was face to face with a bear.

The bear started poking around the back of the van, but Self said he doesn't keep any food items around when he is in the mountains. All the bear could find were wires and tools. Self used a pair of pliers to make as much noise as possible to scare the bear away. The bear eventually climbed out of the van to go on its way.

"He just looked out the back doors of the truck like he was looking at a crazy person for a minute," Self told WBIR. "And then he backed up, got out, and looked at me one more time."
