ABB Inc., the U.S. arm of global technology company ABB based in Norwalk, Conn., has contributed more than $1 million to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund in light of the recent terrorist attacks and devastation in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania.

"We were very fortunate that no ABB employees were directly injured in last week's horrible attacks," said Donald P. Aiken, president of ABB Inc. "But that makes it all the more important that we do what we can to help rebuild in the aftermath of this tragedy."

ABB employees in the U.S. raised over $300,000 in personal contributions in less than a week following the September 11 terrorist attacks. The company matched their contributions two for one, and added $100,000 more of corporate funds.

ABB employees from outside the U.S. have also made contributions directly to the American Red Cross. The company's worldwide Intranet has publicized and facilitated such donations, and published letters of support from employees around the globe.

No ABB employees were directly injured in the attacks.
