As the market for solar photovoltaic systems continues to grow, the rules governing their installation continue to evolve. This expanding and exciting industry has created many challenges for the electrical designer, contractor, installer, inspector, and instructor.

During this session, Mike Holt will address possible conflicts or confusing NEC requirements, provide tips on proper electrical installation techniques, and discuss the dangers related to improper installations. Although he can’t eliminate confusing, conflicting, or controversial Code requirements, Mike will put them into sharper focus and help participants understand their intended purpose. In addition to covering the requirements outlined in Art. 690 of the 2011 NEC, he’ll cover other related Articles such as Art. 705, which covers the installation of electric power production sources operating in parallel with a primary source(s) of electricity. At the end of this session participants will also learn how to cross reference the various Code requirements to understand how they relate to one another.
