What it is: A buffer of pre-assembled fixed contacts for tap selectors. These contact sets are used in ABB components UC-type tap-changers. These bars are milled out of insulation material blocks. The copper contacts shown in the picture are pressed in place together with brass shield rings. These contact sets are mounted around a central shaft with moving contacts, which connects different taps of transformer windings. The design is said to provide good conductivity and a minimal amount of contact wear, which is more than can be said for hard candy and your teeth.
