WESCO Acquires Automation Specialist
WESCO International, Inc., Pittsburgh, recently announced an agreement to acquire the assets and business of Control Corporation of America (CCA), headquartered in Richmond, Va. With 150 employees and 1999 sales of approximately $50 million, CCA provides electrical distribution services and engineering solutions for industrial automation systems.

Caterpillar and Active Power Unveil UPS
Caterpillar Inc. and Active Power Inc. recently signed an agreement to develop a fully integrated flywheel Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system for commercial applications. The system provides stored standby power that is immediately available to cover any utility-power voltage surge, sag, or outage. Working with a Caterpillar standby generator set, the total system provides continuous quality power— even during prolonged power interruptions.
