The fuel cell industry should look upon the current power crisis as a springboard for growth, says Allied Business Intelligence (ABI), an Oyster Bay, N.Y.-based technology research firm. According to a recent ABI report, global stationary fuel cell electricity generating capacity will jump to more than 15,000MW by 2010 from just 75MW in 2001. LEED to Address Energy Savings
Recognizing the need to ease the nation's energy crunch, the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) recently introduced LEED, a building rating system for certifying green design and construction in new buildings. By adopting LEED, USGBC hopes to reduce electrical demand in existing buildings by 45GW and save $21 billion a year in energy costs.
