Scott Nevins with Nevron Electrical Contractors in New Jersey wrote in with a question on Code Basics from the May 2007 issue. On page 55, Exception No. 2, under the “Garage” section, the text states: “A single receptacle on a dedicated branch circuit identified for a specific cord-and-plug connected appliance, such as a refrigerator or freezer.” He writes, “I agree that you do not need a GFCI, but I do not believe you need to have a dedicated branch circuit. Article 210.8(A)(2) does not mention a dedicated branch circuit. It only mentions dedicated space. Am I missing something?”

In response to this comment, the author, Mike Holt, thanks Nevins for pointing out this inadvertent error. “You are 100% correct,” he says. “It's dedicated space, not dedicated circuit!”
