Article 760 tells us how to install wiring and equipment for fire alarm systems, including all circuits these devices control and provide power to. What it doesn't tell us is when a fire alarm system is required to be installed in the first place or where to place the alarm equipment, such as pull stations or horn/strobe units. For installation information, consult the locally adopted building code

Plant is INSTALLING a new fire alarm system. They are runing all new wires. We are in a old building (1970) 25 ft ceilings in most work areas with 10 ft on the asileways. Alarm wires are being ran along the walls on the outside of the wall with all wires exposed about 8 ft. high secured with screw mounted wire clips. Can this wire be exposed to possible damage from painting, ladders and other activites?
