I want to run a branch circuit from the top of a two story appartment, to a tree about 30 ft. from the building. There is a sidewalk between the two, with no entrances close by. I would like to run a messenger wire from a J-Box on the side of the building (up high, and unaccessable), to the tree. I was hoping to fasten the messenger wire to the tree, then set another Jbox on the tree, for the purpose of installing Christmas lights. The area is a low income area and vandelism is high. I want to keep the boxes off of the ground, and dont want to dig under the sidewalk. The code says you cant attach to vegitation. Is this true? Is there ANY way around this? Thanks.
Interpretation help
A new construction project is divided by fire walls to create two buildings in order to comply with the building code for the construction type and occupancy. The service was designed as though it was a single building therefore multiple feeders enter one building from the other but do not run between the buildings outdoors. The design proffesionals opinion is that NEC Article 225 does not apply because the feeders are never go outside. The code authority states outside refers to outside of the building not outdoors. Which is correct? If the code authority is correct what is the rational for applying this to indoor feeders? First responders will have no idea a second building is in play and all power can be killed at the clearly identifiable service for the first building
