A special feature of the Web site, Service Alerts, announces problems and solutions for popular types of industrial electrical equipment from OEMs. Web users can register on the site to get the latest Service Alerts, as well as current news about Grand Eagle and special service and product offerings.

The Leviton Voice and Data Web site, which offers copper, fiber and structured media solutions, has expanded to include a new Support Center. This integrated document resource contains tech notes, instruction sheets, spec/design tools, application notes and access to a highly-trained support staff that is available to answer questions about the manufacturer's product line. The Support Center also features a search engine that allows users to search by either part number or keyword. Additional tech notes, instruction sheets, spec/design tools and application notes will be added periodically.

Warner Electric's interactive eCatalog allows users to quickly find necessary information on specific products — right down to the part number. By using the Product Selector's easy-to-use, drop-down menu, engineers can refine their search to include downloadable drawings, product specifications or a request for a quotation from a Warner Electric distributor. To access this information, users need to click on the eCatalog icon on the home page. From there, they can select one of the main product categories within the Product Selector, such as clutches and brakes for industrial, vehicular, turf and garden applications, controls for clutches and brakes, tension systems, sensors and switches and related accessories.

HowStuffWorks.com has teamed up with Caterpillar Inc., Peoria, Ill., to add four new educational sections to its Web site including “How Caterpillar Skid Steer Loaders Work,” “How Caterpillar Backhoe Loaders Work,” “How Caterpillar Makes Challenger Agricultural Tractors” and “How NASCAR Race Cars Work.” Visitors can see how products work through 3D, morph, video and simulation technologies.

The site includes photos and technical information for all of the products. The site also features a quick order form for fast, easy ordering if product numbers are already known. Users can also store and access “wish lists” or “shopping lists” and take advantage of New Pig's Squeal Deals, which offers discounts and special prices on select items.

UNIVERSAL LIGHTING TECHNOLOGIES

Universal Lighting Technologies, a manufacturer of electronic and magnetic ballasts, upgraded the Ballast Specs feature on its Web site. Ballast Specs is an interactive tool that allows quick access to Universal Lighting Technologies' ballast specification information. It provides two user-friendly search options, either by catalog number or search criteria.

Lithonia Lighting launched a site where users can find specific ideas on reducing lighting energy use. The new energy forum includes a search tool for locating products that meet the energy-stringent guidelines of the Federal Energy Management Program and a calculator used to reduce costs in industrial applications using pulse-start technology. The site also links to government and industry Web sites that offer energy-saving information.
