One of CEE News' main responsibilities as a monthly magazine for electrical contractors and voice/data installers is to provide its readers with information on the most innovative products introduced into the electrical market. The editors use their 30-plus years of experience on electrical publications to review the hundreds of press releases promoting electrical products that we get each year from electrical manufacturers, and to select what we feel are the best for publication each month.

Although this process works well, we felt it was time to call special attention to the most innovative new products. Enter the first-ever CEE News Product of the Year Award competition. Manufacturers submitted new products that were introduced in the electrical market in 2000 for review by a panel of end users. The panel reviewed the entries during the Electric West trade show in Anaheim, Calif., sponsored earlier this year by CEE News and its sister publications in the Intertec Electrical Group.

Twenty products made the final cut, and these finalists are listed in the navigation bar in the left column. We were struck by the diversity of the products selected by our panelists, as the products included everything from a pocket-sized hand tool to a substation and generator. The wide range of innovative products that the judges chose as finalists is a good example of the product development efforts underway with so many electrical manufacturers. New electrical products continually replenish the industry and can help you do your work better, safer, more efficiently; and more profitably.
