Casey resigns from the IEC; Association looks for new executive

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Dwight “Ike” Casey has resigned from his position as executive vice president of the Independent Electrical Contractors and accepted a position with the Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors National Association in Falls Church, Va.

“We thank Ike for his 11 years of service to IEC and look forward to working with him in his new position,” said IEC President Jim Thurman, Louisville, Ky. “His leadership has enabled us to experience phenomenal growth over the last decade.”

This year, IEC has trained more than 10,000 electrical apprentices in 34 states and will be expanding its training programs this fall to offer apprenticeship training in voice-data-video. The national trade association, with more than 3,000 open shop electrical contractors and 70 chapters, has recently launched a search for a new chief association executive.

Quanta Services names chief operating officer

HOUSTON — Quanta Services Inc., a provider of specialized contracting for the telecommunications, cable television and electric power industries, has named Peter Dameris to the newly created position of chief operating officer. Dameris will report directly to John Colson, Quanta Services' chief executive officer.

“We are fortunate to have a person with Peter's experience and qualifications join our management team,” Colson said. “Peter brings strong operations, business development and strategic planning experience that will assist in our continued success and rapid growth.”

Encompass announces resignation of top executive

HOUSTON — Encompass Services Corp., a U.S. provider of facilities systems and solutions, announced that Bill Love Jr., president of the company's Electrical Technologies business unit, will resign on March 31 to pursue other business opportunities.

Love has been president of Electrical Technologies since the formation of Encompass in February 2000. He is credited with creating the original core group of the company's electrical operations in 1998. Encompass, with sales revenues of about $4 billion and more than 33,000 employees, provides a portfolio of electrical technologies, mechanical services and cleaning systems to commercial, industrial and residential customers nationwide.

“Under Bill's leadership, our Electrical Technologies group has become the largest electrical and communications provider in North America,” said Joe Ivey, Encompass president and chief executive officer. “This organization is a key contributor to making Encompass the premier provider of facilities systems and solutions in the United States.

“We thank Bill for his service to Encompass. He leaves with our respect, admiration and best wishes for success in all his endeavors.”

Love will remain at Encompass until March 31 to help ensure a smooth transition of leadership in Electrical Technologies. The company plans to name Love's successor before his departure. Love will also resign his position on Encompass' board of directors.
