ROSSLYN, Va. - NEMA, the National Electrical Manufacturers Association, has released TC 13-2000, Electrical Nonmetallic Tubing (ENT). This standard is for electrical nonmetallic tubing (ENT) and fittings for use within a building in both concealed and exposed applications and encased in concrete as per the National Electrical Code, Article 331 and the Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1.

The standard lists dimensions and other physical requirements and describes some of the properties of both tubing and fittings. The standard is also said to help the user select and obtain the proper product for a particular need.

"TC 13 is a voluntary standard created by manufacturers of electrical nonmetallic tubing," said David Kendall, director of industry affairs at Carlon/Lamson & Sessions, Cleveland. "TC 13 allows end-users, such as utilities, to review dimensional requirements, material properties and physical characteristics of electrical nonmetallic tubing. TC 13 may be referenced by the end-user or design engineer within the construction specifications and is harmonized with the Bi-National Standard UL1653/C22.2 No. 227.1-97, which is published by both Underwriter Laboratories, Inc. and CSA International."

TC 13-2000 may be purchased for $38 by contacting Global Engineering Documents at (800) 854-7179 (within the U.S.); (303) 397-7956 (international); (303) 397-2740 (fax) or on www.global.ihs.com.
