IES' THURMAN NAMED IEC PRESIDENT

James D. Thurman, vice president of Integrated Electrical Services (IES), Louisville, Ky., has been elected president of the Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) at the group's annual convention earlier this month in San Antonio, Texas.

Speaking at IEC's 43rd Annual Convention and Exposition, Thurman said that IEC is ready to move forward with its plans to "take a larger leadership role in the industry. Independent electrical contractors make up 85% of the electrical contractors in this country. We intend to make our voices heard by working with electrical contractors from across the country and industry partners," said Thurman. "We will continue to defend the rights of independent electrical contractors and their employees."

Thurman currently serves as senior vice president and has been a member of the IEC Executive Committee for six years. His term will begin Jan. 1.

Other officers elected to serve for one-year terms were: Senior Vice President - Gary Baumgartner, Baumgartner Electric Co., Sioux Falls, S.D.; Vice President - Steve Humphrey, Sr., Humphrey & Associates Inc., Dallas; Vice President - David Picatti, Industrial Service Electric, Yakima, Wash.; Secretary - J. B. Wise, Wise Electric, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and; Treasurer - Eugene Mini, V.J. Mini & Son Inc., Boonton, N.J. W. T. "Bill" Bledsoe of PENCO Electrical Contractors, East Point, Ga. will serve as immediate past president. Established in 1958, IEC is a national trade association based in Alexandria, Va.
