The Independent Electrical Contractors' (IEC) membership and education departments will be consolidated to synchronize the efforts of both areas. As part of that decision, Bill Mathisen, IEC national executive vice president, selected Lisa Washington, vice president of education, to spearhead the new department as vice president of member and chapter development.

“Lisa comes to us with a broad range of skills in the areas of membership, accreditation and education,” Mathisen said. “As IEC increases educational support for chapters, it is only natural to merge these two very important areas of association management under the single leadership of a talented individual such as Lisa.”

Washington said that the development and delivery of high-quality educational products and services are among the most important member services an association can offer.

“I strongly believe that good communication is an essential element of an effective national-chapter relationship,” Washington said. As vice president of member and chapter development, I will work diligently to ensure that IEC National understands the varying needs of individual chapters and members, and that products and services are developed and delivered to be consistent with those needs.”

The goal of the initiative is to expand IEC's commitment to chapter development and growth, Mathisen said.

“Fusing education with membership will broaden IEC's objectives for chapter growth, while creating an even stronger focus on each and every IEC member,” he said.
