It seems that the installer of the cable used a cord to make a load-side connection for some extension to permanent equipment.     The equipment grounding conductor here that runs into this switch was barely making a connection to the screw with only a few strands of the Article 400 cable assembly used. It seems that the installer of the cable used a cord to make a load-side connection for some extension to permanent equipment. The use of the same screw that secures the switch to the wall cannot be used for this purpose. There will usually be a so-called “means provided,” such as a threaded hole with “GR” or “GRND” next to it to be used for the termination of the equipment grounding conductor. The use of a cord for this type of installation violates Section 400-8.
