Many electricians, faced with a booming market and intense skilled labor shortage, searched for time- and money-saving products at the 16th annual Electric Exhibition and Conference June 25-27 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.

“We're looking for anything to make our job easier, especially new power tools,” said Maurice Allen, owner of Allen Electric, Beaufort, S.C.

The show, which is now owned and managed by Primedia Business Exhibitions, provided new products and technologies from traditional electrical equipment to datacom products in the voice/data/signal pavilion.

Contractors who were looking into jumping into the home networking market could learn how to install wireless or hard-wired broadband networks in CEE News Contributing Editor Paul Rosenberg's seminar, “Residential Networks.” The Electric 2001 seminars also focused on other critical industry trends, such as power quality, lighting design, e-business and the NEC.

Electric 2002 will be June 17-19 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City, N.Y.
