Jim Oehlschlaeger, a Cincinnati electrical contractor, recently placed 44th out of 64 mushers who entered in the 30th running of the Iditarod, the 1,100-mile race from Anchorage to Nome, according to the Cincinnati Inquirer. The Inditarod is a grueling dogsled race through the heart of Alaska. Oehlschlaeger, 55, depended upon a team of 16 dogs at the ceremonial start of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog race. Early on in the race, he ran into trouble when one of this dogs died, but he was able to regroup and finish the race.
“My neighbors think I'm crazy,” Oehlschlaeger said. “Most people can't relate to doing something like this.”
