Just as pilots have pre-flight checklists, rock climbers have pre-climb protocols

Just as pilots have pre-flight checklists, rock climbers have pre-climb protocols. For example, climbers check each other's harnesses before each ascent. Is it silly to recheck the fasteners on the harness you've been wearing all day? No, it’s not silly to ensure you never risk falling out of your harness when it's supposed to arrest your fall.

This particular example has direct application if you wear a harness for fall arrest in your electrical work. In fact, methodical checking isn't just for safety gear. Assess your work procedures in this same manner too.

What prevents you from contact with sources of energy? Apply the checking protocol to test leads, lockout/tagout, confined entry, and equipment hookup.
